Why I Personally DJ Every Booking
When you book a wedding DJ, you're trusting one person with the biggest party of your life. So it's fair to ask a simple question: will the DJ I meet be the DJ who turns up?
With me, the answer is always yes. No subcontractors. I perform at every booking myself.
Why Couples Ask This Question
Some entertainment businesses take bookings under one name, then send whichever DJ is free on the night. That's not always a problem, but many couples only find out on the day.
If you've spent months planning your music and your running order with one person, you want that person behind the decks.
Why I Do Every Booking Myself
I'm a sole operator, based in Warragul. That's a deliberate choice, not a stepping stone to running a roster of DJs.
I've been DJing since the 1990s and have played more than 250 shows. Every one of them has been me.
Doing every booking myself means:
- The person you plan with is the person who performs
- Your song requests, do-not-play list and pronunciations are never passed through a handover
- I know your timeline because we built it together
- You always know exactly who to call, before and after the day
What That Means for Your Planning
Consultations are free and unlimited, before and after you book. Call, message or meet as often as you need. Many couples change their minds about songs or timings right up to the week of the wedding, and that's fine.
I also hold a current Working with Children Check, which matters if you have kids among your guests.
The Trade-Off, Honestly
Because there's only one of me, I can only take one event per date. Once a date is booked, it's gone.
If your date matters, check availability early.
What If I'm Sick on the Day?
It's a fair question, and here's my honest answer: I show up. I've performed through being unwell and still had couples leave five-star reviews. Your wedding day doesn't move, so neither do I.
It would take something genuinely disastrous to stop me getting there. For that rare case, I keep contacts with other experienced DJs I trust. If it ever came to that, you'd hear from me first, and nobody would turn up without you knowing.
Questions to Ask Any Wedding DJ Before You Sign
- Will you personally perform at our wedding, or could it be someone else?
- Is the DJ's name written into the contract?
- What happens if you're sick on the day?
- Who do we talk to between booking and the wedding?
- Can we meet or call the DJ who will actually be there?
Any good DJ should answer these clearly. If the answers are vague, ask again.
