What a Professional MC Actually Does

A wedding MC isn’t someone who reads announcements off a piece of paper between courses. A good MC is the person who keeps your entire night running — coordinating with your venue, your photographer, your caterer, and your bridal party so that you don’t have to.

I’ve MCed over 300 weddings and events across Gippsland in the past 15 years. I know how to pronounce every name on your bridal party list (because I’ll check with you beforehand). I know when to bring the energy up and when to let a quiet moment breathe. And I know how to recover when the best man’s speech runs 20 minutes over or the cake hasn’t arrived yet — without your guests ever noticing something was off.

📋 Pre-Event Planning

Detailed planning session to walk through your full run sheet: bridal party entrance, speeches, first dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss, and any cultural or family traditions. Name pronunciations noted, family dynamics understood.

🎤 On-the-Night Coordination

I liaise directly with your venue coordinator, photographer, and caterer. When the photographer needs five more minutes, I stretch the cocktail music. When speeches run long, I tighten gaps — not by cutting people off, but by adjusting transitions.

🔊 Professional Audio

Leicozic AD4D wireless microphones for speeches and roaming. Shure wired mics at the booth. Crystal-clear audio for every guest whether your venue holds 50 or 300. No feedback, no dropouts.

🛡️ Backup for Everything

Second microphone on standby. Backup laptop loaded. Battery PA for outdoor ceremonies. Equipment fails — the difference is whether you’re prepared for it.

MC Add-On vs Combined DJ + MC

Most couples book me as both DJ and MC for their wedding — one person managing the music and the formalities means seamless transitions and no awkward handovers. But MC services are also available as a standalone add-on if you’ve got a separate entertainment setup.

MC add-on to an existing DJ booking: $75

Includes: Full run sheet planning, on-night coordination with venue and vendors, all announcements and formalities, bridal party introductions, speech coordination, and timeline management.

Events I MC

Weddings — Full ceremony-to-reception MC including bridal party entrance, speeches, first dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss, and farewell. I work with your celebrant to ensure a seamless handover.

Corporate functions — Awards nights, end-of-year celebrations, product launches, and fundraisers. Professional presentation matched to your organisation’s tone.

Milestone birthdays — 40ths, 50ths, 60ths and beyond. Speech coordination, surprise moments, and keeping the energy right for a mixed-age crowd.

Community events — Footy club presentations, charity nights, RSL functions, and community balls across Gippsland.

Service Area

Based in Warragul, I provide MC services across all of Gippsland and South East Melbourne. Zero travel fees for Warragul, Drouin, Pakenham, Berwick, Traralgon, Moe, Morwell, Leongatha, Inverloch, Phillip Island, and surrounding communities.
